So Max was Tristan, and Hanne was Yvaine, and they were lucky enough to be able to fall in love all over again. And now there was Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, who got to fall in love over again... and then there was Hazel, who was Lucy Pevensie, who...

Maybe Max's secret soulmate theory didn't hold water. But maybe it did!

And maybe it didn't matter, because he and Hanne were meeting a new friend for ice cream. Once everyone had their ice cream, and they were sitting together in a booth -- after all the hugs and introductions -- Max was just grinning, looking between Hanne and Hazel.

"This is the weirdest, but nicest, club that I have ever been in," he decided.

Diego had to stop putting it off. He had a bunch of Hanne's mail that he needed to give her. And he knew he should do it now, because she was seeing someone else and was in love, and so what was the point of holding onto her mail or asking her to drop by? He had to shift his thinking, again, into a new era of Hanne and Diego. An era in which there wasn't a Hanne and Diego.

So it was late morning when Diego went by Hanne's new apartment with the mail in one hand, following a different resident into the building. He knocked on the door, steeling himself for seeing Hanne again for the first time, knowing now that she had moved on.

So. She'd played touch football, cut up her shin, met a guy, fallen in love, and remembered being a star. Totally normal Saturday afternoon. Despite being rather unreasonable about everything else so far, Hanne and Max sensibly agreed that they couldn't just sit in front of Phoenix Effect for the rest of their lives, even if it meant putting some (temporary) distance between them. Hanne's place was closer, so that's where they went. She only let go of Max's hand to unlock the door and let them into the apartment. It was a decent-sized studio, not as nice as her place with Diego had been, but she'd been tired of imposing on friends after a few months of it and had finally found this place: nice enough for her to live in but cheap enough for her to afford on a grad student's stipend.

"Ignore the boxes. Actually, don't ignore the boxes, they'll probably make your shins look like mine if you're not careful."

There was a field not too far from Phoenix Effect that was too small for all the various sports leagues in the city to have snapped up for weekend practices or games, but big enough for the fairly flexible game of touch football, so that's where they played. People came and went for most of the afternoon, though the game itself only lasted an hour and change. Almost everyone played, but there were several people watching, choosing to cheer or heckle or talk amongst themselves as it suited them.

When everyone got together enough to actually start the game, they divided into two teams, with Matteo as the referee. Zach's team was made up of Hazel, Max, Hanne, Nori, Nick, Alex, and Oliver; Kyle had Elspeth, Joel, Carrie, Caleb, Irene, Sam, and Elena on his team. It wasn't a blowout, but Zach's team won by a few touchdowns and were crowned the victors. Despite a couple minor accidents, everyone came out of it in one piece. More or less.
