Was Seth actually up for a good sixteen hours in bed with Caleb? He'd just had a seventeen hour shooting day that ended, oh, six hours before Caleb was set to arrive. Still, Seth seemed to have plenty of energy left for this hookup.

If you could call it a hookup. It was an intimate plan for such a casual one, the long stretch of time to unwind and make out and have sex and stay close together, naked in bed, like actual lovers. It was a far cry from NYC app hookups that lasted maybe 20 minutes, but then, maybe things were different out here.

But then maybe it was different because Caleb had seemed to look at Seth and know him, and their vibe had been strong, and their chemistry great, so: why not explore it?

So Seth slept for five hours and ten minutes, showered and threw on jeans and a tee, ate two bananas, brushed his teeth, and even answered two emails before he had to buzz Caleb in. Was that a flutter in his chest? Hard to say!

Caleb had tried not having any feelings besides the purely physical ones, but that had fallen apart completely. Whether he was trying or not, Seth had convinced Caleb to break down a little section of the wall he'd built, and now all he wanted to do was enjoy every bit of it he could. And he did, using his body to press Seth back into the bed as they kissed.

Seth couldn’t help the small, approving sound at the back of his throat as Caleb’s body pressed into his own, and he wouldn’t have stopped it even if he could. He held onto one of Caleb’s shoulders, marvelling at the strength he sensed there. No, seriously: who was this man?

“Are you sure you haven’t been kissing people regularly for many years, becoming an expert?” Seth asked, absolutely transported by Caleb’s attention, movement, sound, heat.

"Maybe it's like riding a bike, and you never really forget." Caleb smiled and dipped his head to taste the hollow of Seth's throat. "Or maybe you're just inspiring my very best work." Not that this felt anything remotely like work.

“Mmm. If this is work, I’m in the wrong job.” He was just sinking into indulgent levels of pleasure of care.

"Tell me about your job. Tell me anything." He was rather too busy mapping Seth's body with his lips and hands to talk, but he could listen.

“My job.” Let’s see how long Seth could speak in complete sentences while he was being touched. “I’m an actor working on a TV show. Which sometimes means I sit around for nine hours and shoot for two, and sometimes it means seventeen hours day of both waiting and shooting, and most nights I have to come back here and get lines down. It’s sci-fi, there are lot of makeup and effects and technical disasters. It’s exhausting and one of the directors is a dick. But I do love it. Everyone is intense and everyone wants to bond fast, because a lot of us aren’t local and need people in our lives. It’s the kind of show that might never be renewed or might really take off, but it’s so hard to tell from the inside. Your mouth is incredible.”

Sci-fi, hmm? It must not touch on anything too close to their past lives to not have awared him. Though Caleb could also believe that Seth was just exceptionally stubborn and refusing to let anything trigger him into awareness. The comment about his mouth had him smiling against Seth's skin, only pausing for a moment as he slowly worked his way downward to ask, "Why acting? What do you love about it?"

“I love the attention.” That was the easiest answer, and the one Seth gave most often, with a side of: “Plus I crave constant positive validation.” But Caleb was kissing him so thoroughly and so well that Seth wanted to give him the more real answers. “No, I am at least half-joking. I suppose I’ve always felt competitive but also locked out of the world, which means I was drawn to being different people and walking into any imaginary world I wanted. I’m a good actor, I think, and I care about people, and I don’t know how else to contribute to this horrible planet except by giving people space to feel things, especially less alone, by stories. I know this is the kind of answer people roll their eyes at, but I think you’re on a roll and won’t walk away from what you’re doing here…”

"I'm not rolling my eyes. And I'm not walking away from what I'm doing here," he added, in case his sudden shift upwards might make Seth think he was. Caleb just very much needed to kiss him. "That was a perfect answer," he murmured between kisses. There was no denying he was developing feelings now.

Well, well. Seth kissed Caleb back with a kind of relief and hunger and appreciation. “A perfect one? Who knew. I guess you’re my truth serum."

"Imagine what secrets I could get out of you if I really tried," he teased lightly, but really he was enjoying getting to know Seth, and enjoying getting to touch Seth, whether one had to do with the other or not.

Seth laughed. “I wish I had some good secrets. You seem like you might have a few, maybe you should tell one.” But you know, if he could manage to do that while still touching and kissing like this, that would be great.

"My secrets aren't really secrets, just things you don't know yet." He was surprisingly sincere about the 'yet'. "And most of them are better saved for less wonderfully naked days." Depressing backstory did not a fun and sexy time make. And his only real secret, Alex, was one he was counting on Seth figuring out for himself or not coming up at all.

"Unless me doing this..." Caleb loosely circled Seth's cock and started stroking lazily. "Will help counter the shock of finding out you have a crush on a huge nerd."

“A nerd that can fuck is my kind of nerd,” Seth said, even though it was clear in his voice that he wasn’t blasé at all about the touch. “That feels amazing. What kind of nerd are you?”

Caleb laughed and mouthed along Seth's shoulder, enjoying the effect he was having on Seth. "Geology. I was the kid who thought rocks were the coolest. Right up through grad school." He still thought rocks were the coolest, okay. He just wasn't a kid anymore.

“Tell me why rocks are cool,” Seth murmured, tilting his whole body, towards Caleb, into Caleb.

For a brief moment, Caleb very much forgot who was the one actually getting touched here. God, Seth was hot. "They lure you in with the sexy, flashy stuff: volcanoes, earthquakes. Then they get you with the mindfuck that is deep time. But the stuff I was always most into was the stuff I could see and touch. Picking something off the ground and knowing it got scraped off the earth by a glacier. Standing on the ledge of the Grand Canyon and knowing how it formed. But also, seeing all the ways the planet can absolutely destroy you and just...not letting it. Seeing all the pieces of the puzzle and figuring out solutions where there are some."

God, Caleb made rocks, the earth, the shape of the world sounds incredible — endless and hopeful and worth all the time and thought. And Seth wasn’t just thinking that because of the tiny earthquakes through his body. “You’re a geology poet and I need you to kiss me right now,” Seth replied, grabbing at Caleb’s head with his hands.

That was good, because Caleb wanted nothing more than he wanted to kiss Seth right then. Caught up in how good it was to touch him, how easy it was to share those things they loved and be seen for them, how much he just really loved kissing Seth, all heat and joy and need and unexpected feelings.

God, that was a good kiss, a real kiss: a kiss that meant something and intended to convey meaning. God, was this a romance? Like, really, was this happening? Seth hoped so, and he even kissed that hope right into Caleb.

This was happening, and Caleb couldn't deny it. He didn't want to deny it, or resist it, so he kissed Seth with every bit of that same hope, like maybe if he did this right, and well enough, and with enough of himself, he'd earn the right to do it again.

Caleb laughed or groaned or maybe both, wanting this man so badly he was dizzy with it, beyond defining or categorizing things or holding anything back. "Can I fuck you?" he breathed, knowing the answer but very much wanting to hear it anyway.
