Touch Football mega thread
There was a field not too far from Phoenix Effect that was too small for all the various sports leagues in the city to have snapped up for weekend practices or games, but big enough for the fairly flexible game of touch football, so that's where they played. People came and went for most of the afternoon, though the game itself only lasted an hour and change. Almost everyone played, but there were several people watching, choosing to cheer or heckle or talk amongst themselves as it suited them.
When everyone got together enough to actually start the game, they divided into two teams, with Matteo as the referee. Zach's team was made up of Hazel, Max, Hanne, Nori, Nick, Alex, and Oliver; Kyle had Elspeth, Joel, Carrie, Caleb, Irene, Sam, and Elena on his team. It wasn't a blowout, but Zach's team won by a few touchdowns and were crowned the victors. Despite a couple minor accidents, everyone came out of it in one piece. More or less.

Nick could do something better. He could take a couple of shaky steps and sit (heavily) on the bed, slowly disentangling from Elspeth when they landed.

She was left sort of messily straddling his lap, and that was fine with her, because it meant she could trace lazy shapes on his chest with her fingertips and look at his stupidly gorgeous face when she said, "You didn't tell me you were actually Superman."

“If I told everyone my secret identity, then it wouldn’t be secret,” Nick replied grinning, smoothing a hand over Elspeth’s hair.

"I'm glad I could screw it out of you." It had left her happily floating, and also very much enjoying him petting her hair. "Eat my dust, Lois Lane."

“You’re Lois Lane now,” Nick decided, kissing the tip of Elspeth’s ear.

Elspeth made a soft sound of approval. "She has kind of a sexy librarian look going on sometimes. I can work with that."

“You got the sexy part down,” Nick told her, and his own approval was clear in his voice.

"If you keep talking like that, I am never letting you leave." It wasn't, like, a crime-crime to keep a hot man prisoner in your room, right? Lucy totally wouldn't notice or mind.

“Then who’ll look after my mama?” Nick asked innocently. Yes, it WAS hot that he cared for his mom.

Elspeth laughed and nipped gently at his jaw. "I'll write you an absence note and send it with my dads to go help her out."
no subject
“Generous dads,” Nick replied with a low, rumbling laugh. Elspeth was something else.

"They're kind of useless sometimes, actually," Elspeth admitted with a grin. "But I figure between the two of them they can be moderately useful. Just don't let them assemble any Ikea furniture."

Nick laughed. “I’m great at assembling furniture, I got you covered.”

"I am too, it's just hard with anything bigger than me." Which was a lot. "So I'm definitely calling you if I ever get a new tall bookshelf or anything. Actually I might need to go invest in one just to give you an excuse to flex these muscles some more," she teased.
