Touch Football mega thread

There was a field not too far from Phoenix Effect that was too small for all the various sports leagues in the city to have snapped up for weekend practices or games, but big enough for the fairly flexible game of touch football, so that's where they played. People came and went for most of the afternoon, though the game itself only lasted an hour and change. Almost everyone played, but there were several people watching, choosing to cheer or heckle or talk amongst themselves as it suited them.

When everyone got together enough to actually start the game, they divided into two teams, with Matteo as the referee. Zach's team was made up of Hazel, Max, Hanne, Nori, Nick, Alex, and Oliver; Kyle had Elspeth, Joel, Carrie, Caleb, Irene, Sam, and Elena on his team. It wasn't a blowout, but Zach's team won by a few touchdowns and were crowned the victors. Despite a couple minor accidents, everyone came out of it in one piece. More or less.

Exactly what she was looking for. "That's good, because I'm free for...the rest of the weekend, actually, and I was thinking I could use a little less football and a little more touch."

“I have pretty good hands,” Nick replied, spreading his hands out in front of Elspeth to show her. “I think they can help you out.”

"That is a relief." Elspeth smiled as she twined one of her hands with his and stepped into his space. "Because I was going to be so disappointed if you had that panty-melting smile going on but no follow-through."

"I like that plan a lot better. But also, could I call you if I, say, hurt myself in another fight with a piece of furniture?"

“Girl,” Nick replied, grinning as he looked Elspeth up and down, winding his free arm around her waist, “I can follow through.”

“Anytime and anyplace. I’ll bring my band-aid collection.” And also imagine being the person this amazing woman called when she was in trouble.

Nick grinned and playfully nuzzled her neck. “Your place works for me. You can maul me on the way.”

What a dream, to have a handsome man to swoop in and kiss her bruised bits better whenever she called. "And there's no one over eighteen who would object to me monopolizing all your glow-in-the-dark band-aids?" She maybe should have asked that before she started swooning but it was all taking her by surprise!

“No one,” Max confirmed happily. “Is there anyone that might prefer to rescue you themselves?”

If only public decency laws didn't keep her from throwing him down on the grass right here. Damn. Elspeth bit teasingly at his shoulder and then moved away, much as it killed her, to tug him in the direction of her apartment.

Hanne shook her head. Diego might object to her answer, considering the way the answer was phrased, but he didn't get to rescue her anymore. "It's just me and my Wonder Woman band-aids."

Nick laughed, just so blessed by this turn of events. “So is this how you always meet your men?”

"Only when I'm lucky and the universe is being nice to me." Nothing else was going entirely right, but this definitely was. "Is this not usually how you meet your women?"

“I meet women everywhere,” Nick admitted, with a little ego but mostly with laughter. “I’m lucky all the time.”

Elspeth laughed and stopped walking, giving absolutely zero fucks that they were in the middle of the sidewalk because she was busy pressing close and stealing a heated kiss. "That doesn't surprise me at all. It's a little harder for me to meet women, but only a little," she added shamelessly.

"You'd make an excellent Amazonian princess, I think." She didn't know why it was so easy to picture him wearing a crown, but her imagination had been getting away from her a lot already.

Nick would kiss a beautiful woman on any sidewalk, but he was still delighted by this development. "I bet it isn't hard for you to meet anyone at all."

Max grinned, and immediately said "As long as I get to wear a crown." What? it seemed like the right thing to say!

"You're right and you should say it." She grinned as she started walking again; she really needed to get him home before she changed her mind on public indecency charges being a bad idea. Luckily it wasn't too much longer before she was letting them into her place. "Just a heads up, I have a roommate, but she's probably working and also she's really chill anyway, so."

Hanne almost tripped over her own feet when he said that. "Are you reading my mind right now or is you wearing a crown just an inevitability we both managed to realize at the same time?"
