Hazel lived in a cute old house, or at least in part of one. Her landlords, an older couple around the same age as her parents, had converted part of the house into a mother-in-law apartment years ago, and when said mother-in-law passed, started to rent it out. That's where Hazel lived. It didn't leave her a whole lot of room for her art, even when that art wasn't inside enormous wardrobes, so they let her build a shed in the backyard they mostly didn't use now that their kids were grown and gone.

She'd actually slipped inside the house while she waited for Katie to get there--to drink some water, to brush her teeth, to laugh in the mirror at how she'd managed to get paint in places she couldn't even reach. That was, apparently, enough to wake Rusty from where he'd been snoozing, and he waddled after her as she returned to the backyard. Hazel saw Katie knocking on the shed and grinned even wider. "Katie!!!"
